The Science Centre successfully submitted a funding application to the PPS Foundation under the University Support Grant, with a submission date of 19 December 2024. This proposal seeks infrastructural and technological support to establish the Science Centre as a hub for curiosity, innovation, and community engagement.

The funding application was developed and submitted under the leadership of Dr. Pulleng Moleko-Boyce partnering with the SRMA office supported by Dr Sibongile Sowazi, whose strategic oversight ensured alignment with the donor’s priorities and the Centre’s goals. The proposal reflected a commitment to operational excellence, detailed planning, and impactful engagement. 

Proposal Highlights

Strategic Objectives: Addressing societal inequalities by equipping the Mandela Science Centre with essential infrastructure, including child-friendly furniture, interactive screens, and multimedia equipment, to support diverse programs and exhibitions.

Total Requested Amount: R 520,602.02, inclusive of VAT, with a detailed breakdown of items and costs provided to ensure transparency.

Donor Benefits: The proposal emphasizes benefits to the PPS Foundation, including tax deductions (Section 18A certificates), B-BBEE certification enhancements, and sponsorship branding opportunities.

Alignment with PPS Foundation Goals: The Centre’s focus on education and community development closely mirrors the Foundation’s commitment to fostering societal transformation.
